Aparna Chandrasekar
Aparna Chandrasekar is a high school student at BASIS Peoria, currently in the tenth grade. She has been learning carnatic vocal for the past ten years, from her guru Shri Syama Krishna Pillai, who works as a lecturer in the music department at the University of Kerala. She has performed in a variety of different musical concerts, in many different temples and stages. However, Aparna’s carnatic knowledge does not only extend to vocal. She has been learning how to play the violin from her guru Vidwan C.N. Srinivasamurthy. Aparna is also skilled in western forms of music, having learnt how to play western violin in her school orchestra, as well as piano, in which she is currently participating in the Arizona Study Program.
