YADA Communications and Newsletter Manager

Divya Ram is an 8th grader at BASIS Chandler. She started learning Carnatic vocal and violin at a tender age of 3 under the tutelage of Smt. Vasanthi Sankaran, and Smt. Sharada Ramakrishnan respectively. Even though she could barely read music notes at that time, she was laser focused on the sounds of music – which continues to be her strength even today. Divya gave her first stage performance at the age of 4. She started her classical bharatanatyam lessons under Smt. Preeti Anand at the age of 6, and is undergoing advanced training from Smt. Srimathy Mohan. She is also undergoing advanced vocal and violin lessons from Sri. Padmanabhan Kumar and Smt Shruthi Ranjani Kanchana & Smt Sumanasa Ranjani Kanchana from the Kanchana Sri Lakshmi Narayana Music Academy. Divya plays Western violin with her school orchestra.

Divya has participated in many of her dance school productions and has a passion for arts, specifically singing. She won several accolades from being the concert-master at her school’s strings concert to being the first prize winner at the Arizona Tamil Sangam Super Singer competition.

Divya has been featured in many YADA programs including the 2020 Summer series, Independence day program, Ganesha Chaturthi celebrations and is an active participant of YADA violin workshop sessions and runs the YADA DID violin sessions. Other performances in 2020 include MGTOA Kalashrushti concert and FAA Navarathiri concert.
